Forget about your past, live in the present and welcome the future!
It has been said that we need just three things in life: something to do, someone to love, and something to look forward to.
It is well to respect the leader. Learn from him. Observe him. Study him. But don't worship him. Believe you can surpass. Believe you can go beyond.

Life is Art
To all Christians in the world, Happy Good Friday and Happy Easter.
Have been busy with work, Jap class, charity for blind children, yoga classes and other stuffs =P
Anyways, here's a great article by Jim Rohn. Enjoy!
=================
Life is Art by Jim Rohn
In my years teaching people to be successful, I have seen that
basically people break their lives down into two major parts: Wealth-building
and the rest of their lives. Having done a lot of reflection on these
two topics - wealth and life - I am coming to some new conclusions about
how to perceive the two.
Until recently I thought that there was a significant difference in how
we should tackle the two areas. In fact, I thought that the two topics
should be addressed in almost opposite fashion.
You see, wealth-building is just math. While life -- Life is art.
Think back with me to high school. Most of us were required to take
math and most of us probably took art as well. Now, think about your final
exams in the two areas. Your math paper was graded on hard facts:
Ten times ten is always one-hundred
Thirty divided by three is always ten
Seven plus seven is always fourteen
Fifty minus twenty-five is always twenty-five
There is always just one answer in math. The answers are hard fact, set
in stone. Math is a science. It is formulaic. You can know the outcome
before it happens, every time.
But what about your final art project? Art is much more subjective.
"Beauty," they say, "is in the eye of the beholder." There is no one right
answer.
Think of the different styles of the famous artists:
Renoir. Monet. Picasso. Rockwell. Warhol.
Different people find different styles beautiful, and that is what
makes art, art. So how does this fit with Wealth-building and life?
Wealth-building is like math:
If you add $1000 to your retirement account each month and gain seven
percent interest over twenty years, you can know now how much you will
have then. It is math. If you buy a rental property for $200,000 now and
it increases in value by three percent a year, you know exactly how
much you will be able to sell it for in ten years. The beauty of math is
in the knowing. You can work the system, set it on auto-pilot and the
math does the work for you, and you know the outcome.
But life? Life is art. And that is the beauty of life. You do not know
how it is going to turn out. Life, like art, is always changing.
Different people provide different colors. When you make a mistake you can go
back, erase it or even paint right over it. You can change the scenery.
Life, like art, is ever evolving, and what looks good to one person is
of no interest to another. And that is what makes life beautiful.
Another lesson I think we can draw is that in life we should do our
math, of course, but life isn't made up of just wealth-building.
Wealth-building should serve our ability to live our lives. Jesus, the master
teacher, said that our lives are not made up of the abundance of our
possessions. He didn't mean that possessions aren't good, just that wealth
isn't what life is all about.
So let me ask you: Are you spending more time on your math or your art?
Do your math. Everybody should do their very best at their
wealth-building plan so they can take care of themselves and their families.
But life is about the art. What does your canvas look like? What kind
of picture are you painting? What kind of pot are you creating? What
kind of statue are you sculpting? Take your time, make bold strokes, use
brilliant colors, and make of your life the most beautiful masterpiece
that you can.
In other words, do your math so you can focus on your art.
To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

Japanese Class
10/03/2005 - Thursday
Went for my first Japanese class at ICLS Subang Jaya. Well, since my cousins are joining and I like Japanese songs, I joined it anyway =P
Our sensei, Fujiwara (our Jap teacher from Yokohama, Japan) did a brilliant job in teaching us! She made the class very lively, fun and exciting! And she's so 'semangat' until it just makes you wanna learn more =)
FYI, all ICLS teachers teaching Japanese classes are native from Japan. That's better because they are teaching it in their original form and partly also they would not teach us Japanese rojak... Lolz...
The first day was easy. Anyone wanna learn some basic Japanese?
I don't know Japanese yet, if there is any mistakes, kindly point it out. Here's we go...

Fresh fish anyone?
A friend emailed me this challenge. Anyone wanna try to solve it?
The Japanese have always loved fresh fish. But the waters close to Japan have not held many fish for decades. So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went farther than ever. The farther the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring in the fish.
If the return trip took more than a few days, the fish were not fresh. The Japanese did not like the taste. To solve this problem, fishing companies installed freezers on their boats. They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea. Freezers allowed the boats to go farther and stay longer. However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen and they did not like frozen fish.
The frozen fish brought a lower price. So fishing companies installed fish tanks. They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks, fin to fin. After a little thrashing around, the fish stopped moving. They were tired and dull, but alive. Unfortunately, the Japanese could still taste the difference. Because the fish did not move for days, they lost their fresh-fish taste.
The Japanese preferred the lively taste of fresh fish, not sluggish fish. So how did Japanese fishing companies solve this problem? How do they get fresh-tasting fish to Japan?
If you were consulting the fish industry, what would you recommend?
/// Edited 12 March 2005 ///
Here is the approach...

How Japanese Fish Stay Fresh:
To keep the fish tasting fresh, the Japanese fishing companies still put the fish in the tanks. But now they add a small shark to each tank. The shark eats a few fish, but most of the fish arrive in a very lively state. The fish are challenged.
Recommendations:
Instead of avoiding challenges, jump into them. Beat the heck out of them. Enjoy the game.If your challenges are too large or too numerous, do not give up.Failing makes you tired. Instead, reorganize. Find more determination, more knowledge, more help.
If you have met your goals, set some bigger goals. Once you meet your personal or family needs, move onto goals for your group, the society, even mankind. Don't create success and lie in it. You have resources, skills and abilities to make a difference.
Put a shark in your tank and see how far you can really go!

Happy Women's Day
Happy Women's Day to all the lovely ladies out there.

Here's a Ecard from bluemountain.
Watched Million Dollar Baby with Ah Seng during the weekends.

Million Dollar Baby
Story:
In the wake of a painful estrangement from his daughter, boxing trainer Frankie Dunn has been unwilling to let himself get close to anyone for a very long time-- then Maggie Fitzgerald walks into his gym. In a life of constant struggle, Maggie's gotten herself this far on raw talent, unshakable focus and a tremendous force of will. But more than anything, she wants someone to believe in her. The last thing Frankie needs is that kind of responsibility-- let alone that kind of risk--but won over by Maggie's sheer determination, he begrudgingly agrees to take her on. In turns exasperating and inspiring each other, the two come to discover that they share a common spirit that transcends the pain and loss of their pasts, and they find in each other a sense of family they lost long ago. Yet, they both face a battle that will demand more heart and courage than any they've ever known.
Review:
This movie is not bad! It doesn't have any special effects, just a damm great story line.
You've done it again Clint Eastwood (director). No wonder this movie got the Oscar award for the Best Picture and a few strings of awards. Also, Hillary Swank gave a brilliant performance. Didn't know a girl can fight so well. Hehe... Ladies, maybe you wanna catch this for Women's Day.
The number One rule is boxing is "Always protect yourself!"
My rating for Million Dollar Baby:
4.9 / 5 (Go watch it! Also, it's the best picture of the year!)
Also, I would like to take the opportunity to wish Kumara a very Happy Birthday! And may all your wishes come true!
Edit:
Pauline just sent me this (how to shock a pig). =P

B A N A N A S
This is interesting. After Reading THIS, you'll NEVER look at a banana in the same way again.
Bananas. Containing three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber, a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.
PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.
Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.
Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official
claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke
Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert..
Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives,
Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.
Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.
Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.
Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.
Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady
Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.
Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure
their baby is born with a cool temperature.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood
enhancer tryptophan.
Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6 and B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.
Strokes: According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine,"eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!
Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!
So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"
P/S: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time! =P

A poetry...
I will open you
Petal by petal
Taking all the time in ther world
I will build you with a slow fire
Stick by stick
And watch the colour of your sunrise
I will play with the wind of you
Cover your body with smiles and games
Promises and fantasies
That disappear without a trace
I will stir your secret core
Witches brew of potions and incantations
And feel you folling
Floating
Simmering in my hand
I will slowly fill you up
Every crevice and curve
Watch
Hear
Smell
Feel
Taste you
Growing Full
Petal by petal
Taking all the time in ther world
I will build you with a slow fire
Stick by stick
And watch the colour of your sunrise
I will play with the wind of you
Cover your body with smiles and games
Promises and fantasies

Peak Performers Get More Done!
(Author unknown)
In the long run, performance counts. In fact, only the things we actually DO really matter. The things we DO are how our lives are measured.
Generally speaking, our intentions do not count. The road to failure is "paved with good intentions." Even our values do not matter until and unless they are ACTED upon.
In the end, only performance counts.
Genius and education do not count - we all know bright, highly educated people who have made a mess of things. Our plans and hopes do not count, and even our faith counts for very little in this world. I recall a critical comment about a well-intentioned but ineffective friend who was described as "so heavenly minded she's no earthly good."
The key to success is knowing where to focus and how to get extraordinary results from our ordinary daily efforts.
Yes, of course I believe in genius and luck and good fortune, but the winners in life have all worked very hard. Whatever genius Einstein and Edison and Dickinson and Madam Currie brought to the game of life, they also WORKED very hard!
The key to unusual success is knowing WHAT to work on, knowing WHERE your talents give you the opportunity to make a HUGE difference. The key is not just working hard - everyone does that. Nor is the key found in ambition or desire - everyone has that.
The key is leverage, focus, patience, perseverance and persistence PLUS an element of genius (we all have that, as well) and effort. Archimedes said that with sufficient leverage he "could move the world", and through his ideas, he did! There is no force on earth "as powerful as an idea whose time has come" and fortunately, we all have powerful ideas!
Here are some practical suggestions to quickly maximize your results:
1. Clarity of purpose. Whatever it takes, know your values and your priorities. Read. Keep a journal. Get organized and stay organized. Life is short - know where you are going and what you want to accomplish!
2. Eliminate the trivial. We are all tempted to do a thousand minor tasks every day. Peak performers just say no. They pay whatever it costs to delegate or avoid distractions.
3. Learn from experts. Invest in education and get a mentor and do what successful people do. As Tony Robbins says, "Success leaves clues," and if you do what successful people do, you will get similar results.
4. Stay the course. Persistence and patience pay off. We all know the saying, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again," but the winners in life modify that. They say, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try UNTIL!"
5. Hard, hard work. Every time I recommend hard work, I get emails from people who claim that success "should be effortless," and that when we do what we love, "we'll never work another day in our lives." But Edison slept in his laboratory and Betty Friedan was famous for her 18-hour days.
I believe the "good life" is about balance. Rest and play, and family and friends are important, and vacations help us renew our spirits. One of the best things I do is to read every day, but in the end, actually getting stuff DONE is essential! Work allows us to make a difference, to achieve success, and leave a legacy. Whatever it takes, get more stuff DONE!

Mastering Your Habits
[Got this great article online]
Someone accurately pointed out that "habit starts out as a thread. As new threads are added, it becomes a rope we cannot break." We want to be careful about the habits we make, for they eventually make us. But by making strong and productive habits, we build strong and productive lives.
Here is a list of habits, drawn on research from numerous sources, that peak performance people share. They are essential to master successfully if you intend to master a successful life. Yet one does not need to be a CEO or corporate head to benefit from the research. Anybody who works to develop these traits will experience almost instantaneous results.
Are you ready to rise to the next level? Here is what my research shows:
1. People who master their lives are people who know what they want and are willing to devote energy toward achieving it. They develop the habit of writing their most important goals.
2. People who master their lives create healthy relationships. They get along well with the people with whom they live and work. They give special attention to their families.
3. People who master their lives practice integrity. They habitually do what is right, even when nobody will know. They live by self-imposed principles.
4. People who master their lives are honest about their strengths as well as their weaknesses. They build on their strengths and work daily toward self improvement.
5. People who master their lives take care of their bodies. They exercise regularly and eat sensibly. They receive proper medical treatment. They tend not to smoke, they take drugs only as necessary and they limit their alcohol intake.
6. People who master their lives control their time. They take at least an hour every day for personal time. They spend daily time with close friends or family, and guard against spending too much time in areas that are unimportant.
7. People who master their lives understand their emotions. They don't leave emotional pain untreated. They know that healthy attitudes are as essential as healthy behaviors. They develop a trusting and optimistic outlook on life.
These essential habits of people who master their lives are threads that, when woven together fashion a rope so strong that it can hardly break. Master these habits and you will master your life. Master your life and you will master your future.

Stepped on a duck?
Three women die together in an accident and go to heaven.
When they get there, St. Peter says, "We only have one rule here in heaven: don't step on the ducks!"
So they enter heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck, and although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one.
Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw.
St. Peter chains them together and says, "Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man!"
The next day, the second woman steps accidentally on a duck and along comes St. Peter, who doesn't miss a thing. With him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together with the same admonishment as for the first woman.
The third woman has observed all this and, not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very, VERY careful where she steps.
She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks, but one day St. Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on .... very tall, long eyelashes, muscular, and thin.
St. Peter chains them together without saying a word.
The happy woman says, "I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all of eternity?"
The guy says, "I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck!"

38. That you don't buy clothes for the weight that you hope to become.
39. That jewelry on the beach is very attractive.....primarily to sharks.
40. Don't fold only sweaters. Fold knit and jersey dresses as well. The wrinkles will steam out in a few minutes.
41. That food is an inappropriate gift to bring to the host of a dinner party. Unless asked, don't even bring dessert. Show up with candy, a book, or something cute but inedible - anything that doesn't belong on the dining table.
42. You should leave the house for a big event- well, maybe ever- without looking in a three sided mirror.
43. That adding sugar can take the saltiness out of a sauce.
44. How to tie a bow tie on a man ( he should know, but he won't)
45. That you should never buy a swimsuit at the last minute.
47. Even women have to polish their shoes
48. That ice cream can salvage almost any dessert.
49. That putting makeup on at the table is as alluring as a man's applying deodorant across from you ( Bathrooms are called powder rooms for a reason)
50. And that asking someone what they do for a living as soon as your meet them is ruder than all of the above.
51. That if you didn't wear it last year, you probably won't this year.
P/S: For those who don't know yet, I will be going to Bangkok this evening. See you guys next week. Take care and have a great weekend! ^_^

Hiking to get lost? Lolz...
15/01/2005 - Saturday
Watched 'Arahan', a Korean kung fu flick on DVD.
Arahan
Story: Sang-hwan is a young, naive, but kind-hearted policeman always trying to clean the world from injustice. However, the reality is that he can’t even bring the smallest of local gangsters to justice. During an attempt to arrest a purse thief, he ends up getting accidentally knocked out by Jang Woo-rim, Jaun’s daughter. Jaun is a high member of the Seven Masters, a group of martial art masters, guardians of the secrets of Arahan.
While waking up Sang-hwan from the knockout, Jaun accidentally discovers that Sang-hwan has incredible Chi powers and has the high potential of becoming a formidable disciple. Meanwhile, the evil HeugUn, an original of the Seven Master’s group, has escaped from his eternal prison and is again seeking Jaun who holds the key to his ultimate power.
Review: There's some nice kung fu moves, some laughable moments but overall IMHO the movie sulks. The movie looks like a B grade movie and it didn't really get my attention to immerse fully into the movie. For me, this movie would be one of the worst Korean kung fu flick I've watched.
My ratings: 2.5 / 5 (Arahan: Jangan tengok 'Arahan' - Instruction: Do not watch 'Arahan'. It is a waste of time. You have been warned.)
16/01/2005 - Sunday
Went shopping for CNY (Chinese New Year) clothes at Sungai Wang. Walaueh... traffic is massive eventhough CNY is just about one month around the corner.
19/01/2005 - Wednesday
Went out with Ah Seng to watch Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason at One Utama.
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
Story: In this follow-up to the worldwide hit, we find Bridget (Renée Zellweger) where we left her: blissful and besotted in the arms of gorgeous lawyer Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). Mark is accomplished, supportive and tolerant of (nearly) all of Bridget's tiny jealousies; why wouldn't every woman in London, including Mark's new long-legged, drop-dead-gorgeous, I-always-say-the-right-thing-at-all-times intern, want to lure him away from the plumpish, opinionated, sometimes inappropriate Bridget? With the entry of the leggy threat, Bridget's pink clouds begin to turn grey as her attacks of self-doubt sorely test her relationship with Darcy. And just when it seems that the waters couldn't get any more choppy, Bridget's former boss, womanizing heartthrob Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) sails into view.
Review: Bridget Jones is just so funny. The most memorable part was when Bridget Jones went to jail... =X It a happy ending and I wonder if they gonna a third movie? BTW, is the word 'shag' is permitted in Malaysian cinemas meh? O_o o_O There too much of shag in the movie... lolz....
My ratings: 4 / 5 (This movie is funny! Go watch it!)
21/01/2005 - Friday (Hari Raya Haji)
Firstly, I would like to wish all Muslims a Selamat Hari Raya Haji. Didn't plan anything today but Kim Hong called up to meet up and have a drink at The Curve. Met up with Kumara, Martin and Kim Hong at The Curve at about 3:00pm. We went to Coffee Bean. Tried their White Chocolate Raspberry Ice blended (CNY special) Yummy! Yummy! As we were drinking our coffee and catch up with the latest news, Martin suggested we go hiking at Bukit Gasing later in the evening. And since we have nothing better to do on a public holiday, we went back home to change, met up in Martin's house and we're off to Bukit Gasing.
We reached there about 6 something and started hiking. We thought Martin knew the place very well, so trusted his lead and we didn't even look at the map in the front entrance. We were hiking in circles! Alamak! At about 7 plus, it gotten dark and we decided to call it a day. We went back the way we came from to the front entrance. We looked at the map and we will be more smarter next time. Hehehe...
Martin fetched Kumara back because he got something to do and the rest of us went for dinner at TTDI (chinese restaurant on the same row as Guardian). We were joined by Wei Liang. The dish were simple and delicious =P
Later we adjourned. Kim Hong went with Wei Liang and Martin have to fetch me back to his house because I parked my car there. We reached Martin's house and as I was going to leave, Kim Hong called up again and asked whether we wanted to go for a drink. In the end, three of us went for another drink at a chinese restaurant near Stanford college. We adjourned and i reached home close to 1am.
What a day! At first, I wanted to just chill out for the day since it's a public holiday, but we went for a drink, a hike, dinner and another drink. We really had a great time at Bukit Gasing getting lost! Lolz...
22/01/2005 - Saturday
Went for Rotaract meeting in KL. And since there was a talk on how to destress, the turn up was bigger than usual. The talk was great but it was a little too short. We learned about the types of stress, what causes stress and how to overcome it. There's two ways, 'reconceptualization' and 'reprioritization'.
Reconceptualization is changing the situation into a different context. The example given was if the boss scolds you, just imaging him singing and dancing naked! We did the exercise and everyone was laughing like mad. Reprioritization is changing the sentences to a more positive view. Example I need this job can be changed into I like this job and etc, etc, etc...
The two speakers also recommend breating exercises and barouqe music to destress. All in all, a very informative talk.
After the talk, we celebrated Catherine and Lai Ping's birthday. And later we adjourned to Stadium Negara Restaurant. We ate steamboat. There was too much food and we didn't finish the food. Anyways, the tom yam steamboat was not bad.
After dinner, we went to Celes's house to play some games. We played congkak, carom and jenga. We also watched a bit LOTR: Return of the King Extended Version. Later we went to Pharmacy in Bangsar at about 1 plus. The place was packed and the music isn't my taste =P Luckily the place close at 2 am. After some lousy loud music, we went to a mamak shop nearby to have a drink and relax. After the mamaking session, we went back home. Reached home about 3 plus and went straight to dreamland...
23/01/2005 - Sunday
Didn't have to mood to go out because I know everywhere would be jam packed just like last week. Everyone's shopping for CNY stuffs. Prefer to go on weekdays =)
Just laze around the house, watched some TV, watched some episodes of School Rumble and did some packing. Tracy, if you're reading this, get hold of School Rumble, it's really funny!
For those of you who don't speak or understand Korean, what does Korean music sound like? Here's a interesting Flash file... Download or just click to play.
Can't really describe this video. Sui jai remix? Download it and watch it for yourself. It's about 74 MB! Huge file! BTW, the girl in the video is kinda cute! =P
