Peak Performers Get More Done!

(Author unknown)

In the long run, performance counts. In fact, only the things we actually DO really matter. The things we DO are how our lives are measured.

Generally speaking, our intentions do not count. The road to failure is "paved with good intentions." Even our values do not matter until and unless they are ACTED upon.

In the end, only performance counts.

Genius and education do not count - we all know bright, highly educated people who have made a mess of things. Our plans and hopes do not count, and even our faith counts for very little in this world. I recall a critical comment about a well-intentioned but ineffective friend who was described as "so heavenly minded she's no earthly good."

The key to success is knowing where to focus and how to get extraordinary results from our ordinary daily efforts.

Yes, of course I believe in genius and luck and good fortune, but the winners in life have all worked very hard. Whatever genius Einstein and Edison and Dickinson and Madam Currie brought to the game of life, they also WORKED very hard!

The key to unusual success is knowing WHAT to work on, knowing WHERE your talents give you the opportunity to make a HUGE difference. The key is not just working hard - everyone does that. Nor is the key found in ambition or desire - everyone has that.

The key is leverage, focus, patience, perseverance and persistence PLUS an element of genius (we all have that, as well) and effort. Archimedes said that with sufficient leverage he "could move the world", and through his ideas, he did! There is no force on earth "as powerful as an idea whose time has come" and fortunately, we all have powerful ideas!

Here are some practical suggestions to quickly maximize your results:

1. Clarity of purpose. Whatever it takes, know your values and your priorities. Read. Keep a journal. Get organized and stay organized. Life is short - know where you are going and what you want to accomplish!

2. Eliminate the trivial. We are all tempted to do a thousand minor tasks every day. Peak performers just say no. They pay whatever it costs to delegate or avoid distractions.

3. Learn from experts. Invest in education and get a mentor and do what successful people do. As Tony Robbins says, "Success leaves clues," and if you do what successful people do, you will get similar results.

4. Stay the course. Persistence and patience pay off. We all know the saying, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again," but the winners in life modify that. They say, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try UNTIL!"

5. Hard, hard work. Every time I recommend hard work, I get emails from people who claim that success "should be effortless," and that when we do what we love, "we'll never work another day in our lives." But Edison slept in his laboratory and Betty Friedan was famous for her 18-hour days.

I believe the "good life" is about balance. Rest and play, and family and friends are important, and vacations help us renew our spirits. One of the best things I do is to read every day, but in the end, actually getting stuff DONE is essential! Work allows us to make a difference, to achieve success, and leave a legacy. Whatever it takes, get more stuff DONE!

Mastering Your Habits

[Got this great article online]

Someone accurately pointed out that "habit starts out as a thread. As new threads are added, it becomes a rope we cannot break." We want to be careful about the habits we make, for they eventually make us. But by making strong and productive habits, we build strong and productive lives.

Here is a list of habits, drawn on research from numerous sources, that peak performance people share. They are essential to master successfully if you intend to master a successful life. Yet one does not need to be a CEO or corporate head to benefit from the research. Anybody who works to develop these traits will experience almost instantaneous results.

Are you ready to rise to the next level? Here is what my research shows:

1. People who master their lives are people who know what they want and are willing to devote energy toward achieving it. They develop the habit of writing their most important goals.

2. People who master their lives create healthy relationships. They get along well with the people with whom they live and work. They give special attention to their families.

3. People who master their lives practice integrity. They habitually do what is right, even when nobody will know. They live by self-imposed principles.

4. People who master their lives are honest about their strengths as well as their weaknesses. They build on their strengths and work daily toward self improvement.

5. People who master their lives take care of their bodies. They exercise regularly and eat sensibly. They receive proper medical treatment. They tend not to smoke, they take drugs only as necessary and they limit their alcohol intake.

6. People who master their lives control their time. They take at least an hour every day for personal time. They spend daily time with close friends or family, and guard against spending too much time in areas that are unimportant.

7. People who master their lives understand their emotions. They don't leave emotional pain untreated. They know that healthy attitudes are as essential as healthy behaviors. They develop a trusting and optimistic outlook on life.

These essential habits of people who master their lives are threads that, when woven together fashion a rope so strong that it can hardly break. Master these habits and you will master your life. Master your life and you will master your future.

Stepped on a duck?

Three women die together in an accident and go to heaven.

When they get there, St. Peter says, "We only have one rule here in heaven: don't step on the ducks!"

So they enter heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck, and although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one.

Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw.

St. Peter chains them together and says, "Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man!"

The next day, the second woman steps accidentally on a duck and along comes St. Peter, who doesn't miss a thing. With him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together with the same admonishment as for the first woman.

The third woman has observed all this and, not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very, VERY careful where she steps.

She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks, but one day St. Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on .... very tall, long eyelashes, muscular, and thin.

St. Peter chains them together without saying a word.

The happy woman says, "I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all of eternity?"

The guy says, "I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck!"

Hiking to get lost? Lolz...

15/01/2005 - Saturday

Watched 'Arahan', a Korean kung fu flick on DVD.

Arahan

Story: Sang-hwan is a young, naive, but kind-hearted policeman always trying to clean the world from injustice. However, the reality is that he can’t even bring the smallest of local gangsters to justice. During an attempt to arrest a purse thief, he ends up getting accidentally knocked out by Jang Woo-rim, Jaun’s daughter. Jaun is a high member of the Seven Masters, a group of martial art masters, guardians of the secrets of Arahan.

While waking up Sang-hwan from the knockout, Jaun accidentally discovers that Sang-hwan has incredible Chi powers and has the high potential of becoming a formidable disciple. Meanwhile, the evil HeugUn, an original of the Seven Master’s group, has escaped from his eternal prison and is again seeking Jaun who holds the key to his ultimate power.

Review: There's some nice kung fu moves, some laughable moments but overall IMHO the movie sulks. The movie looks like a B grade movie and it didn't really get my attention to immerse fully into the movie. For me, this movie would be one of the worst Korean kung fu flick I've watched.

My ratings: 2.5 / 5 (Arahan: Jangan tengok 'Arahan' - Instruction: Do not watch 'Arahan'. It is a waste of time. You have been warned.)

16/01/2005 - Sunday

Went shopping for CNY (Chinese New Year) clothes at Sungai Wang. Walaueh... traffic is massive eventhough CNY is just about one month around the corner.

19/01/2005 - Wednesday

Went out with Ah Seng to watch Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason at One Utama.

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason

Story: In this follow-up to the worldwide hit, we find Bridget (Renée Zellweger) where we left her: blissful and besotted in the arms of gorgeous lawyer Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). Mark is accomplished, supportive and tolerant of (nearly) all of Bridget's tiny jealousies; why wouldn't every woman in London, including Mark's new long-legged, drop-dead-gorgeous, I-always-say-the-right-thing-at-all-times intern, want to lure him away from the plumpish, opinionated, sometimes inappropriate Bridget? With the entry of the leggy threat, Bridget's pink clouds begin to turn grey as her attacks of self-doubt sorely test her relationship with Darcy. And just when it seems that the waters couldn't get any more choppy, Bridget's former boss, womanizing heartthrob Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) sails into view.

Review: Bridget Jones is just so funny. The most memorable part was when Bridget Jones went to jail... =X It a happy ending and I wonder if they gonna a third movie? BTW, is the word 'shag' is permitted in Malaysian cinemas meh? O_o o_O There too much of shag in the movie... lolz....

My ratings: 4 / 5 (This movie is funny! Go watch it!)

21/01/2005 - Friday (Hari Raya Haji)

Firstly, I would like to wish all Muslims a Selamat Hari Raya Haji. Didn't plan anything today but Kim Hong called up to meet up and have a drink at The Curve. Met up with Kumara, Martin and Kim Hong at The Curve at about 3:00pm. We went to Coffee Bean. Tried their White Chocolate Raspberry Ice blended (CNY special) Yummy! Yummy! As we were drinking our coffee and catch up with the latest news, Martin suggested we go hiking at Bukit Gasing later in the evening. And since we have nothing better to do on a public holiday, we went back home to change, met up in Martin's house and we're off to Bukit Gasing.

We reached there about 6 something and started hiking. We thought Martin knew the place very well, so trusted his lead and we didn't even look at the map in the front entrance. We were hiking in circles! Alamak! At about 7 plus, it gotten dark and we decided to call it a day. We went back the way we came from to the front entrance. We looked at the map and we will be more smarter next time. Hehehe...

Martin fetched Kumara back because he got something to do and the rest of us went for dinner at TTDI (chinese restaurant on the same row as Guardian). We were joined by Wei Liang. The dish were simple and delicious =P

Later we adjourned. Kim Hong went with Wei Liang and Martin have to fetch me back to his house because I parked my car there. We reached Martin's house and as I was going to leave, Kim Hong called up again and asked whether we wanted to go for a drink. In the end, three of us went for another drink at a chinese restaurant near Stanford college. We adjourned and i reached home close to 1am.

What a day! At first, I wanted to just chill out for the day since it's a public holiday, but we went for a drink, a hike, dinner and another drink. We really had a great time at Bukit Gasing getting lost! Lolz...

22/01/2005 - Saturday

Went for Rotaract meeting in KL. And since there was a talk on how to destress, the turn up was bigger than usual. The talk was great but it was a little too short. We learned about the types of stress, what causes stress and how to overcome it. There's two ways, 'reconceptualization' and 'reprioritization'.

Reconceptualization is changing the situation into a different context. The example given was if the boss scolds you, just imaging him singing and dancing naked! We did the exercise and everyone was laughing like mad. Reprioritization is changing the sentences to a more positive view. Example I need this job can be changed into I like this job and etc, etc, etc...

The two speakers also recommend breating exercises and barouqe music to destress. All in all, a very informative talk.

After the talk, we celebrated Catherine and Lai Ping's birthday. And later we adjourned to Stadium Negara Restaurant. We ate steamboat. There was too much food and we didn't finish the food. Anyways, the tom yam steamboat was not bad.

After dinner, we went to Celes's house to play some games. We played congkak, carom and jenga. We also watched a bit LOTR: Return of the King Extended Version. Later we went to Pharmacy in Bangsar at about 1 plus. The place was packed and the music isn't my taste =P Luckily the place close at 2 am. After some lousy loud music, we went to a mamak shop nearby to have a drink and relax. After the mamaking session, we went back home. Reached home about 3 plus and went straight to dreamland...

23/01/2005 - Sunday

Didn't have to mood to go out because I know everywhere would be jam packed just like last week. Everyone's shopping for CNY stuffs. Prefer to go on weekdays =)

Just laze around the house, watched some TV, watched some episodes of School Rumble and did some packing. Tracy, if you're reading this, get hold of School Rumble, it's really funny!

For those of you who don't speak or understand Korean, what does Korean music sound like? Here's a interesting Flash file... Download or just click to play.

Can't really describe this video. Sui jai remix? Download it and watch it for yourself. It's about 74 MB! Huge file! BTW, the girl in the video is kinda cute! =P

bumping into someone

The traffic ain't that smooth today, all thanks to the stupid moron who came out with the idea of making changes at ne of the junction that I always use to turn out from my housing area, and this will be for permanent? That's very not nice of you, you know? The moment I turn right and go straight from my house, there's where the jam starts.. all the way til the industrial estate. Thank God there are few traffic police taking charge else I guess I will reach office late everyday!

Anyway, on the way to work today, I was driving and I see a back of a motorcyclist and well, it looks rather familiar.. the helmet, the jacket, and the bike of course! Appears so much to be one of my ex-colleague from my previous workplace. I try to go beside that fella and *bingo* it is someone that I know... Unfortunately, I appeared invisible so he didn't actually notice me driving beside him. Question is...

When bumping into someone you haven't seen for quite some time in this kinda situation, what should we actually do?

(a) Honk at him, hoping he'll turn over?

I however think that this is not a very good idea. Know why? I could still remember a couple of months ago when I was driving my dad's and there was this ahpek on his old old motorcycle and he stops at the middle of the road. I do not know if he's going straight or he'll be turning into the junction. What if I try to overtake ahpek and ahpek suddenly turns? Sure he'll tumbang and caRie is at fault.. it is always this way cuz car is bigger, bike smaller.. so if an accident involves car and motorcycle sure people are going to think that it's the fault of the car driver. Anyway, to give ahpek a sign that I wanna take over, I *honk honk* and he was shocked and nearly jatuh from bike (-___-) Macam nak pff balance aje!
(b) Window Window.. window's down... and shout, "oiii~", hoping he'll hear your voice eventhough it's so noisy on the road?
Also not a very good idea. What if he turns over and see you, then he didn't concentrate on the road and *bang* kiss the ass for the car in front?
(c) Follow him at his back, flash light until he finally notices?
If someone were to do this to me early in the morning, I don't think I will notice, or even if I notices, I won't give much a damn about it cuz it is a broad day light.. pretend tak nampak aje lah!
(d) Etc? Any suggestions?
Thus, I can't figure out a solution except for this:-
Bang him, make him tumbang, get down the car, then by then I'm sure he'll notice you!
Hahaha! I am just kidding. But then it has been so many times that I encountered this kinda situation.. and some involves some very very long lost friend....! and I swear if I were to see them again on the road, and again it's in this kinda situation, hell yeah I am going to bang them!

Major Black Out? Where got...

Have been very busy with work lately and this will continue for a few months. Not much time to blog anymore. Will blog when I'm free =D Maybe caRie can entertain you guys with her stories and wits =P

There was a blackout today in the central and the southern part in Malaysia. More on the blackout at The Star. Everyone's talking about this hot topic but I wasn't caught in blackout. I was in KLIA cargo complex the whole day. There was no blackout there mainly because they have their own power generators =D

Also, stay tuned to this site because the calendar wallpapers are coming up real soon. Damm... they're real sexy! XD

P/S: Looking for extra guess bloggers. Only for those who are interested and has a passion for blogging. If you are that person, drop me a mail at dkbu5 at yahoo dott com.

New Year Liport

31/12/2004 - Friday (New Year's Eve)

Today is the last day of the year. Headed over to Carmen's Seafood & Wine in Wisma Lim Fu Yong for the nite. Reached there about 9pm. Parking is free from 9pm onwards. Woo hoo... free parking!

Met up with Kim, CF and many many new faces. We ate, chit chatted, donated money for tsunami victims, drink, etc. We also had a singing contest, beer drinking contest and a birthday party. It was great!

The Stage

The peeps having fun

01/01/2005 - Saturday (New Year's Day)

As soon as the clock struck 12:00am, everyone was shouting here and there, shaking hands, hugging each others wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! People were bursting balloons, dancing and drinking. It was a fun day. All of us left the place about 1:30 am.

Happy New Year! People bursting balloons...

Outside the restaurant, we saw some 'young cikus' roller-blading and skate-boarding in the middle of the road after midnight. Luckily there was not much cars passing on this road. Is this their version of celebrating New Year's day? Weird and siao O_o o_O

People roller-blading and skate-boarding on the road during midnight!

Eventhough our PM called off the the fireworks and celebration, Jalan Sultan Ismail was jammed with people and cars. Why is there a jam? Because the no use policeman blocked the road ahead and made it a single lane so that they can check every single vehicle to cari makan =X After the blockage by the police, the traffic was very smooth flowing.

The jam on Jalan Sultan Ismail

Reached home about 2:30am and I went straight to bed... zzZZzzzZZZ....

Woke up about lunch time. Ate lunch and watched TV. Had dinner with the family at the vegetarian shop in Damansara Utama (next to Starbucks) and later went to vist my grandparents.

02/01/2005 - Sunday

Woke up and had dim sum with the family at Tai Thong Tropicana. Mmm... the dim sum here still tastes so delicious...

Cleanned and tidied my room and later watched Taekgukgi: The Brotherhood Of War.

Taegukgi

The story: "Taegukgi" is the story of two brothers who are unwillingly drafted into the South Korean army following the outbreak of the Korean War in June 1950. The older brother (Dong-gun) strives to protect his younger brother (Bin) on the battlefield while struggling to find a way to have him discharged so he can return to their village and care for the family they left behind. However, as the war progresses, the horror and violence they witness begin to take its toll on each man and sever their bonds as brothers and soldiers. Featuring large-scale battle sequences and an intimate and complex look at the social consequences of the Korean War on its country and people, "Taegukgi" offers a unique perspective on "The Forgotten War", which permanently divided a nation and turned friends and families into...

Review: I'm not a big fan of war movies and I watched this film because a lot of people recommended me to watch it. This movie shows us the real face of war and how gruesome it is. The special effects for the film is cun! The movie on a whole is good but somehow I prefer Silmido more. Wonder why?

My ratings for Taegukgi: 4.5 / 5 (Watch it to expereience a real war)

03/01/2005 - Monday

Went to gym. Tried Power Yoga. The class was less than 10 people. Some of the moves in Power Yoga were easy while some were really hard. Anyways I enjoyed the class. ^_^

04/01/2005 - Tuesday

Down with cold and fever. Couldn't wait to get back home. Reached home and sleep the whole nite =P

05/01/2005 - Wednesday

Didn't go to work today. Just rested at home.

06/01/2005 - Thursday

Back to work. Feeling better, still haven't fully recovered.

07/01/2005 - Friday

Food, food & more food

24/12/2004 - Friday (Chritsmas Eve)

Didn't bother going out eventhough some friends invited me to their church for gathering (BTW, I'm Buddhist). Didn't bother to go out either cause it'll be jam packed everywhere. Instead I stayed home to watch My Sassy Girl. Was the story worth it?

My Sassy Girl

Description: "Gyeon-woo is a single Korean college student, still not very sure of what he wants to become in the future. One night, on his way back home, he meets an extremely beautiful girl, but who is also completely drunk. Because the girl talked to Gyeon-woo before falling unconscious, the people surrounding them begin to think that the girl is Gyeon-woo`s girlfriend. Having no other choice than helping the girl, he decides to leave her in a motel, since he doesn't know were she lives. The next morning Gyeon-woo gets a call from this mysterious girl who is very angry about him and wants to know everything that happened the past night. She tells him to meet her right now at the exit of the metro. Gyeon-woo thinking about this, decides to go see the girl. From that night, Gyeon-woo and the girl will become good friends, in a strange sense. As the relation progresses, Gyeon-woo begins to discover how crazy the girls really is, with all her wacky behaviors, angry attitude and always wanting him to please her the way she wants, even if it mean that Gyeon-woo will pass for a complete idiot in public places or gets beaten by the girl. But even if Gyeon-woo suffer, physically and mentally, he really thinks that this beautiful girl will have some sorrow in her and he really wants to help her to get better. But at what price?"

Review: This movie is a good. It's a must watch if you love romantic movies. Apparently My Sassy Girl was released on 2001 and there was a prequel released earlier this year called Windstruck. Both movies directed by the same director and staring Jun Ji-hyun. She's damm cun! Watched Windstruck earlier (Windstruck at the bottom of the page), it's kinda fun and sad actually but still loved it. I recommend that you guys watch Windstruck first then watch My Sassy Girl.

Jun Ji-hyun

My ratings for My Sassy Girl: 4.5 / 5 (Must watch if you like romantic movies and the soothing music is from Pachelbel's Canon)

25/12/2004 - Saturday (Christmas Day)

Hmm... what a busy day!

Woke up early today. Picked up Kumara and we visited Mark in Taman Tun (Knew Kumara & Mark since primary school). We were the first to arrive about 11 am. We chatted for awhile and after about half an hour Lilian arrived. Passed her her X'mas present and she left in about 15 minutes later because she has another party to go to. BTW, Lilian got engaged and will be flying off to Perth on Sunday. Congrats & Bon Voyage!

X'mas tree at Mark's house

Food at Mark's house

After Lilian left, the crowd started to appear. It was quite a big crowd about 30 plus people. We had lunch, most of the dishes were cooked by Mark's mom. She's really a good cook! Alot of varieties - Siam mee hoon, salads, kish, pasta, wedges, veges, roasted chicken, roasted lamb, cakes, cookies, drinks, etc. Loved the Siam mee hoon, it was so delicious XD~ Yum Yum...

Met up with some old friends and we chatted until about 2pm and Kumara and I have to leave. Kumara had to fetch his auntie to KLIA and I gotta get to another party which was at Kajang.

Reached Mei Han's house about about 3 plus. It was not easy to find but luckily Mei Han provided clear and precise instructions. Hehehe... There we met up with Rotaractors and friends. We had another round of food. Damm full liao... We chatted and took a group photo and later we had present exhange lucky draw style. I got this pen holder with two swans. It's kinda feminine ler... Going to pass it to my sister later. I left about 5 plus.

Food at Mei Han's house

X'mas tree and present exchange at Mei Han's house

Went to my grandmother's place in Kajang town. Had some jelly and prawn cracker. Later we adjourned to Fortuna Restaurant, a chinese food restaurant in Kajang town to have our 8 course X'mas dinner with uncles, aunties and cousins. The food is good. We left at about 8pm.

X'mas tree at Grandmother's house

Went for another bbq open house in Steven's house Puchong. Met up with some rotaractors and some new friends. I didn't have any more food cause I'm stuffed with it XD~ Instead we had some red & white wine, alcohol mint drink (it's green in colour) and best of all we had a sip of the Chinese white wine which contain 49% alcohol. What an experience, haven't really tried Chinese white wine before. Just one sip of it is already enough to get you high and the whole body burning. Most of us just had a sip. We left Steven's place about 11 plus.

Reached home about 12 plus, was really tired of driving, went straight to bed... Zzzz....

26/12/2004 - Sunday

Went to Theresa's house for X'mas lunch at about 12:30pm. Knew Theresa from a TJJ outing to Port Dickson. She's an ex-Rotaractor and she was the one who introduced me to the Rotaract club. Thanks Theresa for introducing me to Rotaract. Had some wonderful time with the Rotaractors =P

Food at Theresa's house

Most of the food were cooked by Theresa. The salad and tuna macoroni was top of my list. Mmm... sedap!

Met up with Francis, Evelyn, Winson, Aaron, Sharon and lots more. Got to know that Theresa's dad just wrote a book and it will be on sale next year and Theresa's mother is so cool and sporting. Also, Theresa gave all of us X'mas present. Got a nice photo frame. Thanks again Theresa!

We got to know about the Tsunami disaster while watching the news on TV. Walau... can't imagine that a Tsunami will hit Malaysia. My sympathies goes out to all the families of the victims.

Later we went for dinner at a chinese hawker food at Taman Desa. Food was so-so there.

Reached home 10 plus. Continued watching the news about tsunami and went to bed about 12 midnite.

27/12/2004 - Monday

Work, work, work... a few of my colleagues was on leave so I have to help finish their work.

Also, Billion supermarket in Port Klang opens it's doors to the public. It's just next to the office. Now, shopping will be easier for me =D

Billion Supermarket in Port Klang

Went to Prabu's 21st bday party at nite. It was a surprise party for Prabu arranged by his elder brother Srithar (knew Srithar while doing our A-Levels). What a nice bro! Aww...

Party was fun when Prabu returned home and found everyone was there and was singing the bday song for him. Meet a lot of new faces. Left the place about 11 plus.

Went home and see that my downloads of Initial D 4th stage Episode 9 and 10 have completed. Watched it immediately. Both episode was kinda slow, not much battle, just the build up to the next episode. One of the guy found out Takumi's weakness and the guy got a rally car driver to drive the ultimate car to beat Takumi. Can't wait for the next episode. XD

Initial D 4th Stage

Also: It's been a year since we moved in to our house. Happy 1st Anniversary to my house! =)

28/12/2004 - Tuesday

Didn't get any of the phones on my X'mas wish-list. Instead I got a Nokia 6230. I know it's an old phone but this phone is filled with the standard features. Also, this phone supports MMC card and has a camera. Eventhough it is not megapixel camera, for photographs I can always use my Nikon 5200 XD

Could have bought the phone below RM1200 if I got cash in my hands. But I negotiated with the phone supplier and he agreed to give 3 months installment (RM400 per month) =D

My Nokia 6230

Went to gym at night. Gotta work out after the taking in so much food XD

29/12/2004 - Wednesday

Went to watch Phantom Of The Opera with Theresa, Evelyn, Francis & Winson at Mid-Valley Megamall. We also met up with Estella from TJJ wacthing the same movie in the same cinema. Also, I met up with Richard who was our tour manager for the Korea trip. He's gonna watch Kung Fu Hustle with his kids.

Phantom Of The Opera

Description: This romantic musical epic is about a mysterious masked figure, Erik (Butler), who roams the undergrounds of 19th century Paris, centering his activity around (or under) the Opera Populaire, where he tutors a beautiful young soprano, Christine (Rossum), who goes on to upstage the city's most famous opera singer, Carlotta (Driver). The Phantom thinks he's found love, until Christine's childhood boyfriend, Vicomte de Chagny (Wilson) shows up.

Review: This is my first time watching Phantom Of The Opera (haven't seen any other versions of it yet). This movie is a musical. The movie had a good openning and ending, but the middle part of it was draggy. Too much singing! No wonder alot of people liked the show and also a lot of people hated it =P This is the first movie that I seen got the audience clapping their hands for it in the end.

My ratings for Phantom Of The Opera: 4 / 5 (Must watch for musical fans, or if you can bear with the singing go watch it!)

So Kung Fu Hustle is really that nice? Well, was it a wrong choice for me to continue heading to the cinema though I wasn't feeling well? When the rest were laughing hysterically, I was there sitting.. trying to join the crowd.. and they said that laughter is the best medicine.. but I can hardly laugh.. stomach pain la weih! What is I puke while I was laughing? That would be worse, right? Erm, should I go for the 2nd round? ;)

Anyways, guess most people would have known what happened by now, the tsunami... Well, I guess it was a great shocked for most people in Malaysia as we are always the lucky ones to be out of all this kind f disasters but luck is not on our side this time. Well, my deepest condolences the the victims' family. I was at my house when the incident happen but it didn't affect my area at all. Reason.. I wasn't staying in the island itself but Prai, which is like in the Peninsular of Malaysia. My eldest sister who was in Kentucky called early in the morning after being awaken by her in-law upon the news. He insisted that my sis calls to ensure that we are all alrite here in Penang. Just a very short time and thousands of lives are gone forever... Sad to say but shouldn't we who are more fortunate to take this chance to start to treasure peole around us better?

As I was sitting there talking with my parents before bedtime yesterday, we was talking about what to do if a disaster like this would happen in our house. What will we do with all of our dogs???

Mum : We do not have like 10 chains for the dogs!!
Dad : *lol* just open the kennel and let them run free and save their own life!! hahaha!!!
Mum : Hmm, what about the puppies?
*silent*
Mum : I think you better put the puppies at somewhere high in case the water rise up and drown the puppies while we are sleeping.
Me : *lol* Ma, if anything happened, what would you save?
Mum : Nothing
Me : But why?
Mum : Cuz EVERYTHING is valuable and I can't afford to save all of it
Me & Dad : *silent* :-/
Mum : *lol*

Kung Fu Hustle Rocks!

Just finished watching Kung Fu Hustle at TGV One Utama.

Stephen Chow in Kung Fu Hustle

Description: A hapless wanna be gangster, Sing (Stephen Chow), must overcome his inability to wield a knife and demonstrate his mettle in order to become a member of the notorious Axe Gang. The Axe Gang, meanwhile, want to reign supreme by occupying the most coveted territory, which is a sacred street protected by an unlikely cast of characters, many of whom are highly skilled kung fu masters disguised as ordinary people. After several encounters with thugs and a fearsome adversary known as the Beast, Sing overcomes his inadequacy and realizes he is the greatest kung fu master of them all, destined to protect the sacred street.

Review: This movie absolutely rocks! If you guys thought action in The Matrix and Spiderman was great, wait till see this movie. The Kung Fu fighting scenes just blows everything away and has brought the standard up a few notches from The Matrix. And it's all action from start till the end of the movie. (Err... some scenes are too violent, so beware!) As for the story wise, it's damm kau funny. Go watch it!

My ratings for Kung Fu Hustle: 5 / 5 (A must watch for all Kung Fu fans. It's so good that makes you wanna watch it again =P)
